What is the rule of 3?

1. Research and share findings on the Rule of 3- What is it? How can it be prevented? Why is it important? 

2. Water purification- variou s ways and what will be filtered out. Make sure you discuss removing chemicals, viruses, bacteria, protists, particulates, etc. 

3. Map reading + compass use- I have compasses and maps you may use for your research. You will be explaining how they are used. 

4. Foraging- focus on Illinois organisms. Factors include time of year, poisonous look alikes, habitats found in, whether they are native or introduced. 

5. Solar ovens - DIY and different versions. Explain the science and variables in making them. You may make one as part of your presentation. 

6. shelters - different types for different conditions - weather, temperature, ecosystems

7. Food to have on hand - Best types, how much, how to store, how to cook without an oven. 

8. Comms - Walkie talkies, CB radios, etc. Best types, prices, how are they used. Imagine a scenario where phones no longer work. 

9. Medicine & first aid- What you should have. What if you did not have it, then what could be used in nature or around the home. 

10. knots and telling time without a watch. Demonstrate at least 5 knots and when/why used and how one would tell time without a watch. 

11. Bug out bags- What are they and why/when needed.  Varieties and what should be in them and where to find supplies. Remember if you have pets and research for a specific number of people.
